A Nashville Tradition

It’s that time of year again—time for the 42nd annual Davidson County All-Sports Picnic.
The picnic will be Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Allen Arena on the David Lipscomb University campus. Head football coach Phillip Fulmer and women’s basketball coach and eight-time national champion Pat Summitt will speak, along with university president Dr. John Petersen, women’s athletics director Joan Cronan, and the Voice of the Vols, Bob Kesling.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. CST, and the program will begin at 7 p.m. The festivities will include a silent auction with the opportunity to purchase football tickets, basketball tickets, a day with the Vols, and two Lady Vols guest coaching spots.
Tickets are $10 per person, which includes bar-be-que with all of the fixings. Lettermen and children under the age of 8 are free. Pre-registration deadline is July 17. After July 17 and at the door, the price is $15 per person.
Online registrations are accepted at www.2008allsportspicnic.eventbrite.com. For more information you can go to utalumni.com/nashville or call the Davidson County Alumni Chapter hotline at 615-426-2510.
One of the Davidson County chapter’s proudest accomplishments is establishing the Davidson County Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment in 1997, to help students from the Davidson County area attend the UT campus of their choice. Since 1997 Davidson County has helped 11 students attend a UT campus. Proceeds from the All-Sports Picnic will support the scholarship endowment.
