Black History Events Planned

As part of the observance of Black History Month, the second annual Black Issues Conference will be held Feb. 10 on campus.

Guest speaker will be Jeff Johnson, a BET television personality and leadership trainer. Johnson is national director for the America Votes young voter project. The conference, sponsored by Minority Student Affairs and UT chapter of the NAACP, will include seminars as well.

Also on the agenda of Black History Month events is the Clarence Brown Theatre’s production of Fences, which runs from Jan. 25 through Feb. 11. The plot focuses on a father/son relationship in a 1950s African American family. More information is available at http://theatre.utk.edu/.
