A Class Act

A fourth national championship barely eludes the Lady Vols.

Coach Pat Summitt makes a point from the sidelines.

Well done, Lady Vols! That hard-charging bunch, coached by the renowned Pat Summitt, made Tennessee people proud as they fought for the NCAA championship. They fell just short (70-64) of knocking off number one ranked Connecticut in the finals April 2 in Minneapolis, but still had a tremendous season. They finished an extremely tough schedule with a 34-3 record and won their third consecutive SEC championship with a perfect 11-0 mark. Their 64-game home court winning streak is the second longest in NCAA history. The 1995 seniors never lost a game at home during their four years. Pat Summitt was 1995 SEC coach of the year and WBCA/Converse Coach of the year. Nikki McCray was named to five All-America teams. Congratulations to the Lady Vols on a spectacular season.
